| | amused | ] | I'm not a Clint fan (and have heard he's quite the handful to work for), but I absolutely LOVE this.
Ever wondered how to pronounce my name correctly? Wonder no longer:
I usually get things like, "Eliza" or "Elissa" or "Elisha" or "Elise". Is it that hard a name to pronounce? I blame "Elisa Hahn," Seattle weather lady, who pronounces hers "Elissa." :/
Too bad someone never took the time to even know how to pronounce my name accurately...*cough* "Elissa"?! *cough* |

| | okay | ] | At the Pasadena Target today, in the frozen food section:
Woman: (to her friend) Oh, she's taking the Special K challenge! (points at my basket filled with my favorite cereal of all time, Special K Blueberry) Me: It's an awesome cereal. I love it! I eat it all the time and it's on sale right now. Woman: But you don't need to do the Special K challenge! Look at you! Where do you need to lose anything? Me: (patting my belly) Oh, let me tell you... (Woman grabs her own, somewhat more rotund belly) Woman: (kindly) Let me tell you!
*sighs* I so need to lose weight. :/
And then while standing on the corner at Brand, a guy in a carful of 20-year-olds yells out, "Sexy baby!" at me. I know he was doing it ironically, but it was still hilarious. XD
Got a new pinup girl 2010 calendar at Vroman's, then walked along Colorado. It was an absolutely stunning day here in SoCal - warm, sunny, nice breeze.
I think the universe is trying to make me smile today. It worked, a little. |

Thanks for all the voters, I went with the majority and saw Weird Science at the New Bev, but the print was too dark and I was too depressed to fully enjoy it. Still, I'd forgotten about the Jill Whitlow cameo, so that was a nice surprise (she plays Cynthia Cronenberg in Night of the Creeps).
*sighs* I have my good days and my bad. Today turned out to be a bad one. :(
I still miss my blog. |

For the North 'Mericans today on 01022010:
You UK'ers will have to wait until February 1st for yours. ;)
These next few months are gonna look a whole heckuva lot like binary.
Good lord, I need a life...I was so busy when I was still allowed able to write the blog. :( |

| Happy New Year! |
[Jan. 1st, 2010|10:25 am] |
Hope everyone had a good evening. I didn't do much - watched This is Spinal Tap and just relaxed with Jude. A quiet evening, but nice.
Here is a fun little comparison photo for today:

On the left is me in 2000 and the right, a photo taken the first day of 2010.
The first photo was taken by my ex-husband Dave at Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham, WA
The second is a self-portrait taken in my apartment, somewhere in Southern California :)
On another note, in years past, even before I had The Combs Corner, I usually post a Jeff quotes/screencaps trivia quiz today or soon after. I have one I was going to post in December, but for obvious reasons, it didn't get posted. I was even going to give out prizes. Alas! If anyone still wants it, I can post it. *shrugs* It's up to you, honestly.

| | nostalgic | ] | That's the title to my fictional book that I will never write, but don't steal it anyway! :P
As 2009 is coming to a close (thank GOD!), I wanted to take a little look back at my rather shitty, but rather awesome year. As I've discovered, 2009 has been one of the best, and worst years of my entire life.
( Read on... )
So here I am, 1 1/2 days from 2010 and it can't come soon enough. I've lost a lot this year, but I also had a lot of fun, so *shrugs* maybe it sort of evens out.

| | "Certain People I Know" - Morrissey | ] | Happy Boxing Day, Everyone!
Since I was essentially suicidal yesterday, I reeeally wasn't in the mood to wish anyone a happy anything, so Boxing Day shall have to do.
Being a Canadian (I am only 'Merican on paper, thank you. Well, everywhere BUT the U.S., I am officially a dual citizen or Canamerican™), we got Boxing Day off as a holiday and it was, from what I remember, just a day to hang out, "box up" your prezzies, and traditionally it has something to do with tipping the mailman(?) although I don't think we even got mail on Boxing Day in Canada.
BTW, today has absolutely nothing to do with the actual "sport" of boxing. I am always amused Americans think this is the case. Oh, you silly people!
New Year's Day was a huge shopping day, though. I still remember my toes going numb from cold whilst waiting outside Sam the Record Man with my dad and brother for the massive sales to start. CD's for a mere $3! And the last year I went, they were getting rid of their vinyl collection, so I scored a bunch of Bonzo Dog Band (including my beloved "Keynsham") for super, mega-cheap.
I'm trying to figure out if there are any traditional Boxing Day songs...did Stompin' Tom not cover this?! For shame!
These guys are pretty fun, though:
And now I feel like hearing "Boxers" by Morrissey...so let's all just be confused.
At least I'm not crying. *shrugs* |
